2. Overview

Data Sensors is sold as an offline desktop application. The application itself does not create user accounts, does not phone home, and does not send telemetry or usage data anywhere - see §8 below. This policy mainly concerns the much smaller amount of data this website processes: what you submit through our contact form or when requesting our install guide, standard technical logs generated by our hosting provider, and the analytics tools described in §6, which only run with your consent.

3. Contact form

When you use the contact form, we process the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, in order to respond to your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR - pre-contractual enquiries or our legitimate interest in handling correspondence). Submissions are sent through a Cloudflare Worker to Postmark (Wildbit LLC), our transactional email provider, which delivers the message to our inbox. We retain contact form correspondence for as long as necessary to handle the enquiry and any follow-up, and delete it once it's no longer needed.

4. Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish human visitors from automated spam, without the tracking cookies a traditional CAPTCHA would use. Turnstile may process technical signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) for this purpose alone. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

5. Hosting & server logs

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, Cloudflare's infrastructure automatically logs technical information for every request (IP address, timestamp, requested page, browser user agent) for security and operational purposes (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR - legitimate interest in operating and securing the site). See §6 below for the analytics and lead-identification tools we use with your consent, and our Cookie Policy for details on every cookie this site can set.

6. Analytics and lead identification (Google Analytics 4, Leadfeeder)

With your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given via the cookie banner Cloudflare Zaraz shows on your first visit, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site (pages viewed, session length, approximate location, device and browser type) and Leadfeeder to identify which companies - not individuals - are visiting, based on IP address, for our own sales and marketing purposes. Neither tool loads unless you accept; declining means neither ever runs. These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, based on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses; see Google's privacy policy and Leadfeeder's privacy notice for details. You can withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future, via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page - see §9 for your other rights under the GDPR.

7. Install guide requests

If you request our install guide - from the Documentation page or the Download page - we process the email address you provide and record your consent, in order to send you the guide by email (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and to keep a record of people who have expressed interest in Data Sensors. Requests are verified with Cloudflare Turnstile (see §4), stored in our own database (Cloudflare D1), and the guide itself is sent via Postmark (Wildbit LLC), our transactional email provider (see §3). We retain this information until you ask us to delete it - contact us at [email protected], or see §9 for your other rights.

8. The Data Sensors desktop application

The application you purchase and run locally does not require an account and does not send usage data, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind to us. It works fully offline for everyday use, with two exceptions. First, it periodically checks our servers for available updates - on startup and at intervals afterward, unless disabled in the application's settings or by your IT administrator - which reaches our hosting infrastructure and is logged the same way as our website's server logs (see §5); the check itself carries no license, usage, or personal data, and downloading an update only happens once you explicitly choose to. Second, customers using a floating (team) license contact their own self-hosted license server (which you or your organisation operates) to check out a seat - this reaches only your own infrastructure, never ours. No personal data about you or your usage is collected by us through the application itself.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on it (see §6 for analytics, §7 for install guide requests). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority - in Germany, the competent authority for Baden-Württemberg is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Baden-Württemberg.
